After being a competitive barrel racer as a teen, I took twenty years off to have kids. I went to Bluegrass Riding Academy so I could begin to learn hunt seat. My first time back on a horse must have been hilarious. I don't think I even remembered how to put my foot in a stirrup. The kind, supportive environment made it possible for me to struggle through learning to post a trot on the gentlest horse in the stable and get back my balance, confidence and love of riding.

My son was a beginner rider as a teenager. He didn't want to start in group lessons with a slew of younger children. Bluegrass Riding Academy gave him a place to learn the skills he wanted at his own pace and with personal attention. Within six months he was showing, and winning, but more importantly, he had developed a love of horsemanship that will last him a lifetime.

I have been riding with Sally Haydon 13 months now and she still finds ways to make each lesson fun. She is really good with the rider who lacks confidence, keeping you physically and mentally engaged so that you don't have time to worry about falling. Although I am not interested in showing I do enjoy going to the shows to support my fellow riders. We really do have good diverse group of riders.

Thanks to the support and encouragement given to me by the staff at Bluegrass Riding Academy, I am riding again as an adult. BGRA has wonderful horses, a great indoor arena and a beautiful barn and farm to offer its programs. They offer high quality instruction in a fun environment. Now that I'm riding again, I have met many new friends and am becoming much more fit!

I was always the little girl who dreamed of getting a horse for her birthday. Until recently, that dream did not become a reality because there were no opportunities for riding lessons where I grew up. I discovered Bluegrass Riding Academy through joining the Eastern Kentucky University’s Equestrian Team. Learning to ride at BGRA as a member of the Eastern Equestrian Team has greatly impacted my life and enabled me to establish lasting relationships. For anyone who wants to learn to ride in a professional, encouraging and safe environment, I highly recommend Bluegrass Riding Academy. BGRA helped make my dreams come true!

My daughter starting riding with Dr. Sally HaydoGn when she was just barely five years old. Throughout our time at BRA, Dr. Sally has always shown a great deal of patience and personal interest in my daughter’s growth. On more than one occasion, Dr. Sally was more than willing to go the “extra mile” in assisting with horse show preparation, up to and including accompanying my daughter and I on trips to select her riding attire.
Over the nearly two years at BGRA, I have seen remarkable growth in my daughter. Riding has fostered my daughter’s love of all animals, exposed her to an excellent form of exercise, and exposed her to the essential disciplines of the equine industry. Thanks to my daughter, who learned through Dr. Sally, I know more about horses and horse care than I ever imagined.
I am especially grateful for Dr. Sally’s patience in allowing my daughter to interact with the animals and do her “chores” after her lessons. Thank you Dr. Sally for playing a very important role in a young girl’s growth and development, and for fostering in her a love of horses that only grows stronger.
